Miracle Theatre Company

Jason

Written and directed by Bill Scott.

Music by Jim Carey.

Nothing can stop Jason in his quest for the Golden Fleece - not even a dodgy oracle.

It takes more than a bad weather forecast, threats from dysfunctional gods or sirens with halitosis to put off the Argonauts.

But when it comes to love, Jason is completely overwhelmed. he is no match for the sorceress Medea.

Miracle plunders the riches of Green mythology - with tragic consequences.

Pitchside

Following the success of the first performance at the Plen an Gwary -  Redruth's new performance space - last month, we are pleased to announce that the next show has been booked, and will be presented on 24th July at 7.30pm. Cornwall Arts Centre Trust is once again working with pupils from Redruth School to promote this show, and hope to repeat the success of Miracle Theatre's Jason, which brought around 90 people to enjoy a picnic and evening sunshine at Kerrier District Council's Fairfield site.

The play is written by St. Just's Nick Whitby (just announced as winner of the 2008 Nick Darke Award).  He has previously worked for Channel Four's Emmy Award winning ‘Smack the Pony', and wrote ‘To the Green Fields Beyond', directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes at the Donmar Warehouse, London.  His stage version of ‘To Be Or Not To Be' will be opening on Broadway this October.

The actors all live and work in Cornwall and some will be familiar from their previous work with Miracle and other Cornish theatre groups.

Pitchside is fast, fun, and very accessible, for all ages over eight, and concerns The Angels under 14 girls' football team.  It is their last game of the season and the Angels are fighting to avoid relegation.  The action follows the players, but also their parents, and the extraordinary lengths they will go to to avoid ‘the drop'.

This is a play for those who love football, hate football, and everyone in between, but it is also a play about children and parents.  Singers from all over Cornwall will be helping the terrace atmosphere along.

Tickets for this show are available on the door, in person from Reception at Krowji, The Old Grammar School, West Park Redruth or by calling 01209 313200.
