Krowji plans for Christmas in Redruth
9 May 2008

Saturday 29th November is the first date to put in your diary - this is the official day for the turning on of the lights in Redruth and there will be a lantern parade by local school children. Not forgetting of course a visit from Father Christmas himself!
The Christmas festivities will run for four weeks from Saturday 29th November. Every Saturday there will be free street entertainment from 11:30-15:30 including Cornish carols, jazz music and circus acts and free demonstrations by our resident artists. Also every Saturday there will be free visits to Father Christmas' workshop. This is a chance for the children to see Father Christmas at work, wrapping presents and planning his route around the world.
The Krowji Vean shop will be open during the week and will be as before part gallery and part shop, with an exhibition of work for sale by artists based at Krowji as well as other local artists and there will also be books, toys and other stocking fillers for sale. We will be running arts and crafts workshops for adults and weekend workshops for children in which they can make festive decorations, such as snow globes, shoe box shadow plays and Christmas tree decorations. These will be held in the shop and run by local artists.

This project forms part of our commitment to supporting regeneration efforts in the town and increasing the town centre's links with our main studio cluster site at Krowji. We're doing this in partnership with local community groups, with the town council and with local traders as a contribution to the campaign to reinvigorate the town centre and to bring more custom to Fore St - Redruth's main shopping street - during this key trading time.
