The subject of my paintings is the child situated in a timeless yet recognisable interior or exterior space. Based on memories of my childhood there is an underlying sense of the isolation and displacement suffered by my Italian/Swiss family who settled here after the war. Being the daughter of an ex-nun, religious iconography often appears.

The work is highly personal and emotive yet is more akin to a poem or story rather than a literal transcription of my life. As such, I hope it speaks to others at this collective level of human experience.
